It began with a request; “Can you help me with a budget?” As a Credit Manager for an agricultural input supplier in the Delta, Alan Grafton discovered that his farmer clients were often overwhelmed with gathering the information needed to secure the annual crop loan, and with monitoring the budget as the year progressed. The client, the input supplier he worked for, and the client’s bankers valued a well conceived and a well implemented financial plan, but the business of farming often played a distant second fiddle to the actual farming. Enter AgKnowledge. In 2003, with one client and a laptop computer, AgKnowledge began to fill the role of CFO for the farmer. Today, the company is still answering the demand to cultivate business growth by helping the farmer:
