Coffman's Mens Wear opened in July 1956 when West Virginia native, George Coffman bought Batchelor Bros., a small men's clothing store in downtown Greenville, NC. George chose to relocate to Greenville and pursue a career in menswear because he recognized the town's potential: a prospering area with a sophisticated population of wealthy tobacconists whose travels enabled them to shop in much larger markets.

Today, George Coffman is retired but maintains an active presence at the store. He enjoys chatting with customers and occasionally selling merchandise. However, George is more than comfortable having passed the torch on to his two capable sons. Both John and Bill share their father's passion for the industry and dedication to the family business. Each bring a unique side to the partnership and together, they are working to build upon the success their father created, while taking the business to unforeseen heights.
