Community Action Partnership of Lake County is one of 1,100 agencies across the United States established under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 to fight America's War on Poverty. As part of a national network, the agencies work to strengthen, promote and represent the voice of the more than 34.5 million people who are living in poverty.

Community Action Partnership of Lake County is a diverse social organization that provides a wide range of services within the geographic boundaries of Lake County, Illinois. Lake County includes the affluent communities of Lake Forest, Highland Park and Lincolnshire and is often viewed in the upper echelon of the economic strata; however, it has its share of individuals and families who live at or below the poverty level.
CAPOLC has programs and services that impact all residents across the socio-economical spectrum, but it is primarily known for its services to families. CAPOLC customers are living on the edge of poverty and need assistance in developing or maintaining a status of self-sufficiency.
