Prior to founding DBC Marine, Whitney Tipton spent over 20 years in marketing and sales for organizations such as Thompson-Reuters, CBS, Ziff-Davis and Insight Express. Her interest in boating started at an early age after her family moved to Coronado, California and bought an Islander Freeport 41. The many weekends spent sailing San Diego Bay and Catalina Island cemented her plans to one day buy a boat and live aboard.

Similarly, Dan Ahearn had written and produced more than 300 television commercials during his 25-year advertising career working on brands like Honda, Toyota, Celebrity Cruise Lines and AON Insurance. His passion for boating began when he was just a wee lad in Warwick, RI, where his family owned a summer cottage and a number of boats. Dan’s first real job was pumping fuel on the boat docks in Narragansett Bay.

In 2011 Dan and Whitney left the formal ad industry and started DBC Marine with the express intention of making a career out of their passion for boating.
