Kids in the Spotlight, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that trains foster care youth to create, write, cast and star in their own short films. The training culminates in an annual "Movies by Kids, for Kids" film festival and awards celebration which is our version of the "Academy Awards". We provide a positive outlet for foster care youth to express themselves by telling their stories, their way, and we provide a platform for them to be celebrated and awarded for their accomplishment. We use filmmaking as a healing method to reach our youth and to create a sense of accomplishment that will cause them to raise above their current situations and be successful in life. Our organization helps foster care youth to discover their voices and enforce positive outward expressions.
