The Paw Plaza Hotel was founded by Melanie J. Scofield in February 2001. For years, Melanie had been searching for a kennel that had all of the comforts of home and a loving staff to ensure that her pet would be well taken care of while she was out of town. Unfortunately, she never found one. Most of the kennels that she had visited seemed too cold and sterile. She thought that there has got to be a better way to board pets that also gives the owners peace of mind while they are away from their furry friends In 1998, Melanie began wondering if she, herself, could start a boarding kennel in her own area and make it a place that she would feel comfortable leaving her own pet. She began researching kennels across the U.S. and found that very few offered a more "upscale" approach to pet boarding. After extensive research, Melanie decided to do a market survey of Charleston, SC, to see if there was a demand or need for the type of kennel she envisioned. When the results of the survey came in, Melanie could not have been happier! She then began turning her vision into a reality, and thus, the Paw Plaza Hotel was born in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Classical music is played 24 hours a day throughout the entire hotel. The large grass yard and the nature trail certainly enable the dogs to get plenty of exercise during their walks and playtimes. Our canine guests have several room options ranging from small and large runs to one and two bedroom luxury suites with raised beds and a color TV. We also have a Puppy Room for our little guests (under 20 lbs). The Cattery gives our feline friends a window view of outside and of our lobby. Every day, each guest in the cattery gets playtime outside of their condo to climb or lounge on a seven-foot cat tree and several toys to amuse them. Since opening, the Paw Plaza Hotel has continued to give the best loving care to all of its four-legged guests. The loving staffs' sole priority is to make sure each guest is happy, safe, comfortable and, most of all, loved. Please stop by anytime for a complete tour of the Paw Plaza Hotel.
