The National Association of American Veterans, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in November 2005 to be a provider of health care information, emergency assistance and advocacy, counseling, housing coordination, and educational programs for all service members, with an emphasis on the severely wounded and single parent service members, military caregivers, veterans, and their families at risk of not returning to normalcy after serving in a war, and residing in underserved areas nationwide.
Data indicate that today, 1 of every 3 service members returning from war is injured and 1 in 5 are disabled with long-term care needs. NAAV's policies follow the guidelines and procedures established by the Department of Defense and the Veterans Administration to advocate for service members and veterans for entitlements and benefits.

The goals of the organization are:

To serve as a comprehensive nonprofit organization that values the honorable and selfless service of those who have served in America's Armed Forces.

To serve as an advocate by voicing the concerns of service members and alleviating the stressfulness of searching for assistance;

To assist eligible veterans with due benefits, counseling, single parenting, and emergency and legal assistance;

To support the timely processing of VA disability claims for all veterans through partnerships with other veterans' groups:

To serve as a clearing house of information and resources including videos, website links, newsletters, and fact sheets, and through sponsorship and partnerships with other veterans' services or private organizations;

To provide support for the programs and services offered by other veterans? service organizations and to support personnel working in the Veterans Administration Medical Centers in inner cities by pooling the resources of our sponsors, partners, and member organizations;

To document veterans' stories with the Veterans History Project and Library of Congress for future generations.

The association is committed to the social, emotional, and professional reacculturation back into the mainstream of American life of all service members and veterans, especially severely wounded veterans and single parent veterans.

NAAV is committed to the continual enhancement of quality health, social, and emotional care, and the quality of life of those we serve.

Today, the Association operates in eight states and eight regions with more than 200 members.
