OSG Materials Consultants was formed in October 2008 by Dr Paul Laws. Dr Laws and his team of consultants are well qualified and each have over 20 years work experience, related to the offshore and petrochemical industries. Their responsibilities have included managing aspects of materials selection, metallurgy and welding, coating technology, corrosion management, non-destructive evaluation services and asset integrity , on a large number of projects globally. OSG currently has specialists available worldwide.

Technical
We also have a network of independent consultants available to assist in some of the more complex technical issues, for example AUT system qualifications, corrosion modeling techniques and material requirements for high strain applications and engineering critical assessments. Specific technology development areas where OSG is focusing their efforts include, clad versus lined CRA pipe, materials selection for complex subsea equipment, properties of 13Cr, DSS and SDSS, cryogenics, high strength steel grades X80 to X120, high strain applications, coating technology for arctic and high temperature service and CO2 sequestration.

Advanced Materials Consulting
OSG Materials Consultants are focused on advancing materials consulting, to accommodate the more severe service conditions including, ultra deepwater applications, arctic service, HP /HT systems, sour gas, environments containing high levels of CO2, fatigue And high strain applications. OSG is also focusing on life cycle costing, to help optimize the materials selection choices, by taking into account the CAPEX versus OPEX costs, associated with onshore and offshore developments, such that overall costs are minimized, while providing a fit for purpose solution.
