INTRODUCTION
The name Ourcare, Inc. was selected to reflect the establishment attitude towards residential care given to persons with developmental disabilities. Ourcare, Inc. is a corporation operating in the health care industry. The corporation is registered to do business in the State of Maryland and complies with the State’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene – Office of Health Care Quality (DHMH-OHCQ) to provide the housing, health, medical and personal care services as needed to individuals with developmental disabilities.
The Ourcare, Inc. has established a community Living service (CLS) to provide residential services to individuals with developmental disabilities. The primary focus, not only with housing, but to create an environment that fosters love, gives quality home care, and encourages growth in spirit and progress; to provide care to those who need it.
Ourcare, Inc. seeks to ensure consistent quality care and respect for each resident and based on the belief that the highest level of service can be achieved by having the highest quality of staff working in a supportive environment in which there are sound policies and procedures.
Policies and procedures have been established as guidelines, rules, and directives to govern the operation of the employees within our establishment, to maintain order, organization and promote a standard routine of operation.
The Ourcare, Inc. has composed a manual containing a comprehensive composition of the various policies and procedures addressing issues that may arise in our aim to competently serve individuals with developmental disabilities.
This agency manual provides comprehensive and thorough guidelines, however, the administrators realize our reliance on the quality of the staff to adhere to the policies and procedures in order to guarantee the smooth operation of the organization, to facilitate maintaining a pleasant environment and best quality lifestyle for the individuals served.
VISION
Ourcare, Inc. is a nonprofit agency dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Services and supports are provided without regard to race, color, creed, sex age, national origin, marital status, or physical or mental capabilities. The role of Ourcare, Inc. is to couple program services and supports with an education and training project to inform members of the community in order to ensure that the best quality of life is maintained for the individuals served and the community as a whole shall be mentally enriched.
Ourcare, Inc. is driven by the belief that individuals with developmental disabilities desire to be and should be active members of the community. This infers that all members of the community have rights and responsibilities. To this end, the agency provides training and other support to those individuals so that they may obtain their maximum desired mental and physical capabilities, emotional maturity, and skills that will promote and improve their capability to learn and train for employment opportunities with their preferences, needs and choices.
MISSION
Ourcare, Inc. is dedicated to making Maryland a great place to live, learn, work, and play for individuals with intellectual and physical developmental disabilities, their families and the community they live.
BUSINESS CONCEPT
Ourcare, Inc. fosters the self-directed approach as much as possible and as each individual served is capable. This is a process by which the individual served is involved in the selection process that directs their support services in order to meet their daily needs and long-term goals. This process is built on the principles of self-determination, which includes the freedom to make choices; the authority over services and support, the responsibility for organizing resources and supports necessary to live in the community.
Ourcare, Inc. is designed to explore new ways of supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to have increased power and control over planning, budgeting, expending and managing their day to day services.
The individuals served are encouraged and mentored to:
• Participate in planning their lives, identifying needed supports and services for inclusion in their Individual Plan;
• Participate in the budgeting plans for acquiring day to day needs and support services;
• Participate in selecting and arrangement for services and supports to implement their Individual Plan;
• Be accountable for the use of services and payments through their Individual Budget;
• Be creative in the development and implementation of their Individual Plans and Budgets to more effectively meet their needs and more efficiently use their available resources;
• Serve as leaders and self-advocates for their self-directed services as appropriate to their individual needs and abilities.

Transition Services - Residential Set-Up: Residential Set-Up and accommodations for individuals moving into the Ourcare, Inc. provided home in the community.
