FOUNDED IN 2002, Prototype Advertising, Inc. is the brain child of Todd Allen and Josh Oppenheimer. Shrouded in secrecy, these two creative masterminds began working on what our team now calls "the Prototype model." What started as nothing more than Sharpie sketches on the back of napkins has now become our mantra and the leverage to empower our client's with marketing success.
So, what is this "Prototype model?"
It is the belief that creativity is driven ultimately by passion and perseverance and the goal being to achieve absolute excellence in regard to each individual client's needs, specifications and vision. It is the understanding that "we" as a team output greater concepts and results than "we" as a single unit. It is the decision to choose humility over arrogance and through that learn and grow as creatives and also as an agency.
With the goal set, Josh and Todd set off on a world expedition to find the best creative minds and code monkeys possible. In a stroke of pure luck they were able to find a solid team right in their home town so the expedition was canceled.
The stage was set... a team of young entrepreneurs and hungry designers and developers gave Prototype the fuel needed to set "the Prototype model" into gear. Years of late nights coupled with strong shoulders (from toting home design and render-capable computers) produced a solid, stable and reputable agency. But something was still missing.
In 2007 Prototype Advertising moved from a suite in downtown Lynchburg, Virginia to a newly renovated office building in Forest, a nearby suburb. This new space provided immediate growth -- not only in staffing but also in space to pursue additional creative verticals. The model was evolving.
Four years later our team continues to grow and we also strive to set our collective goal toward new capabilities and equipment that benefit our client's marketing needs. We believe that an evolving model breeds new challenges and opportunities for team growth which in turn yields higher quality products for our clients. This history has yielded a new USP, Unique Selling Proposition, which we proudly display in our office as a reminder of what "the Prototype model" started as -- but more importantly what goals continue to be for each client, project and concept.
