MISSION - To enhance the quality of lives of underprivileged Indian woman and children by supporting programs in the fields of Primary Healthcare and Education.



VISION - Share and Care Foundation is a social entrepreneur. Our work is not about charity. It's not about giving handouts. We are in the business of fighting poverty and empowering women and their families to really take charge of their lives. Since 1982, SCF evolved from an organization that delivered used clothes to one that now provides tools to enable them to buy their own clothes, food and a roof over their head.



PURPOSE - Share and Care Foundation is a philanthropic organization dedicated to harnessing the power of people to create an opportunity for those deprived and marginal to improve their lives.



The Foundation invests in and helps scale innovative organizations to catalyze social and economic change. To date, SCF has committed more than $58 million to path breaking NGOs that foster social and economic advancement and encourage individual participation across villages of India. The foundation's planners believe in,

"Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."



FOCUS - SCF Programs



YOUTH DEVELOPMENT - (Education - Healthcare - Skill development)

Projects will address long-term sustainable solutions through quality education, skill building programs. Good sanitation and hygiene education ensures our goal of least drop out rate and better concentration.



HIGHER EDUCATION INITIATIVE - An important part of our focus on youth development is to monitor placement of high school students we support upon their graduation. One of our highly successful initiatives is to offer loan scholarships to needy brilliant students completing 12th grade to help them with their college education. The loans when repaid by current students can support new students thus keeping the program sustainable on a long term basis. It is a flagship program of our rural empowerment strategy. The program is transformational in nature and is one of the best ways to eradicate poverty in villages. It creates a positive multiplier effect of benefits to the entire family and to the local community from where the student comes.



WOMEN EMPOWERMENT - (Education - Healthcare - Skill development - Livelihood opportunities) Economic independence is the first step towards the empowerment of women. It motivates them to claim their legitimate rights, dignity and respect. That gives sustainability to their family and inspires their children to study with reduced drop out rate.



OPPORTUNITIES - (Vocational Training - Microfinance - Micro Entrepreneurship)

Such initiatives aim to improve their income and family's quality of life. That would address the unemployment and under employment problems. It will improve the well-being of the families that would lead to respect and equality of women.



HEALTHCARE - SCF supported many major Healthcare initiatives such as Cancer Hospital in Surat, Dental College in Dahod, Medical camps encompassing many surgeries and diagnostics. Our aim is to support preventive medicine.



DISASTERS - SCF supports several initiatives to help victims of natural disasters.



ABOUT US - Since 1982, Share and Care Foundation is serving the needs of rural India by supporting programs for health and education and creating opportunities to ensure sustainable growth. Share and Care members are chasing a dream. A dream to create a better living environment; for people living in rural India, and help them realize their dream. This has been a journey. A journey about chasing a dream and witnessing events unfold as they gradually become a reality.



Since last 27 years, Share and Care Foundation is serving the needs of rural India. It supports programs of health and education and creates the opportunities for livelihood. Things we take for granted - food, water, electricity, education and awareness are luxury for folks in some of the rural areas. Consequently, we are able to connect you with a wide array of non-profit groups to work within a variety of fields. All of them have proven record of accomplishment of success and have made a great impact in their communities. We will not put a band-aid on the problems of rural peoples by offering a chance to adopt an orphan or provide a handout to a family. We believe strongly in the old adage "it takes a village to raise a child" and while women and children have been the focus of much of our work, we feel that improving their surroundings and empowering their caregivers is the ultimate solution to the plight of so many.
