CareSouth Carolina has grown from a small, $200,000 a year, one–physician office operation to the regional health and human services alliance of the present. In December of 1980, the complete staff included an administrator (Ann Lewis, current CEO), a part–time bookkeeper, a medical receptionist, a nurse and a physician. They saw 24 patients on that first day in Society Hill. Now, CareSouth Carolina has over 280 employees, serves over 35,000 patients a year, and has an annual operating revenue over $20 million. Plus, Vantage Point, a division of CareSouth Carolina, currently contracts with over ten local area providers to deliver services to over 6,000 elderly clients in the Pee Dee region.
