York Tree Service was started by Robert Meckley in 1981 to provide pruning and tree removal services to the greater York area. In 1984, York Tree Service, Inc. incorporated and began doing electrical line clearance for P.P.L. and Met-Ed. Since then, York Tree Service, Inc. assists Met-Ed in providing safe and reliable electric service. York Tree Service, Inc. manages vegetation growth around electric lines by tree pruning, brush and tree removal, and herbicide application to selective rights-of-way. Please note that York Tree Service, Inc. must adhere to Met-Ed's line clearance specification standards.

Bruce Stryker joined the York Tree Service, Inc. team in 1984 as a groundsman and worked his way up to vice-president. Today, Bruce handles residential and commercial sales and shares operations and administrative duties.

Jonathan Hettinger, our field manager, has been in the green industry for more than fifteen years. He is commercially licensed in lawn care as well as tree and shrub care. Jon is one of the first people in York County to attain his Certified Tree Care Safety Professional (CTSP) status with the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA). Jon is also the chairperson of the York Tree Service, Inc.'s company PA Dept. of Labor Certified Workplace Safety Committee.

In the early 1990s, York Tree Service, Inc. expanded its tree care services into plant health care (PHC) by providing biostimulants, pest control, and disease management. During this time, York Tree Service, Inc. developed into a reputable and reliable tree care company serving hundreds of satisfied clients in the greater York area. York Tree Service, Inc. currently employs eighteen highly-trained, skilled, and experienced arborists, including two ISA-Certified Arborists (PD-0034A and PD-1068A) and one Certified Tree Care Safety Professional (CTSP).
